Eelde Flower Parade

The Eelde Flower Parade is an annual event in Eelde, Drenthe, taking place during the first weekend of September (September 6th and 7th in 2025).
Since 1957, this colorful parade of floats, decorated with dahlias and other cut flowers, has attracted between 50,000 and 90,000 visitors.
Fifteen parade districts build creative floats, often with extras, music, and theater, based on an annual theme (in 2025, "Fleurig en Vrij" or "Flowering and Free").
On Saturday, the parade follows a 2.5 km route, and on Sunday, the floats are displayed on the festival grounds on Mozartweg, with a street market, live music, and children's attractions.
The parade, organized by volunteers and the Eelde Flower Parade Foundation, is listed on the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage and is praised as one of Europe's most beautiful dahlia parades.
