Boxmeerse Vaart

The Boxmeerse Vaart is a centuries-old Holy Blood Procession in Boxmeer, which originated around 1400 after a supposed blood miracle in which wine turned into blood during the Eucharist.
This colorful procession, held on the second Sunday after Pentecost, revolves around the relic of the Holy Blood, preserved in a silver carrying case.
It is an intangible cultural heritage, recognized in 2012 on the National Inventory.
The Procession attracts thousands of spectators every year and includes masses, choirs, and a route through Boxmeer with decorations and the Holy Blood Guild.
The tradition, rooted in popular devotion and folklore, is organized by the Stichting Comité Boxmeerse Vaart.
The 625th anniversary will be celebrated in 2025.
