Wetterhoun

The Wetterhoun, also known as the Frisian Water Dog, is an old Dutch dog breed, originally bred in Friesland for hunting otters and as a guard dog.
It is a medium-sized, powerful dog with a dense, curly coat in black and white or brown and white, well-resistant to wet conditions.
Wetterhouns are intelligent, headstrong, loyal and suitable as a family dog, but require consistent training and sufficient exercise.
Due to their rarity, the breed is protected by breeding programs to maintain genetic diversity.
They are known for their working drive and friendly, but watchful nature.
