South West Coast Path (Cornwall section)

The South West Coast Path is England's longest National Trail (1,014 km total).
The Cornish section is the most popular and spectacular: approximately 470 km from Minehead (Somerset) to Poole (Dorset), but the true Cornish section runs from Marsland Mouth (the Devon-Cornwall border) to Cremyll/Plymouth (or sometimes extended to Plymouth via the Tamar Bridge).

Cornwall highlights: From north to south: Bude → Boscastle → Tintagel → Port Isaac → Padstow → Newquay → St Agnes → St Ives → Land's End → Penzance → Mousehole → Lizard Point → Falmouth → Mevagissey → Plymouth.

Very hilly: a total elevation gain of over 35,000 meters (4 times Mount Everest!).
Often 800–1,200 m of ascent and descent daily.
Breathtaking coastline: dramatic cliffs, turquoise bays, old tin mines, seals, dolphins, and plenty of smuggler stories.
Best time: May–June or September–October (less crowded than July/August).
Practical information: Well signposted with the oak leaf symbol (acorn).
Many B&Bs, hostels, and campsites along the route; luggage transfers available (Sherpa, Lugger's, etc.). Reasonable public transport (train to Penzance, buses along the coast).
Difficulty level: challenging due to the many short, steep climbs.

In short: the most beautiful, rugged, and challenging coastal walk in the UK, with Cornish pasties and cream teas as a reward! Perfect for those who love spectacular sea views and challenging hikes.

Hiking in the Drunense Dunes

The Drunense Dunes, part of the Loonse en Drunense Dunes National Park in North Brabant, offer excellent hiking opportunities through a unique landscape of drifting sand, heathland, and forests.
The area, also known as the "Brabant Sahara," has several marked hiking trails ranging from 2 to 20 km, such as the Forest and Dune Route (7.5 km) and the Dune Route (11 km).
Starting points such as the Roestelberg or Giersbergen are popular.
Hikers enjoy vast sandy plains, tranquil forests, and viewpoints, with a chance of spotting deer or birds of prey.
The park is easily accessible and has restaurants and cafes such as Herberg De Drie Linden.

Bernina Express Hiking Trail, Switzerland

This long-distance hiking trail follows the Bernina Express route in ten stages, from north to south.
You can take a closer look at the bridges, tunnels, viaducts and train stations for no less than 131 kilometres.
Most people walk it from Thusis to Tirano, but this hiking trail is clearly marked in both directions.
You follow the yellow signs with the green logo and the number '33' on them.
The Albula/Bernina hiking trail is fun for everyone, because you follow the route of the Rhaetian Railway. You can get on or off the train in almost every village, so you can decide for yourself how long you want to walk.
You can therefore adapt the daily stages to your fitness, experience and interests.
The best time to walk is from June to September.
But be careful, even during the summer months you can still come across snowfields on the higher parts.
