Drenthe Sheep Flocks

The Drenthe Sheep Flocks are traditional, shepherd-led sheep herding operations on the heathlands of Drenthe. 

They use traditional breeds such as the Drenthe Heath Sheep and the Schoonebeeker sheep and contribute to the conservation of the cultural landscape and biodiversity. 

There are 10 active flocks, which received additional subsidies from the province in 2025 to ensure their continued existence.
