The colors, from left to right, are: blue (indigo), yellow (center), and red.
Meaning of the colors:
Blue: Traditionally represents the clear sky.
Yellow: Symbolizes the country's wealth in grain fields and minerals.
Red: Represents courage, heroism, and the blood of patriots.
History: The flag was first officially adopted in 1866 during the Principality of Romania.
The modern tricolor, in its current form, was reintroduced on December 27, 1989, following the fall of the communist regime (at which time the old communist state coat of arms was removed from the central yellow stripe).
Note: The flag closely resembles the flag of Chad.
The only difference is that the blue on the Romanian flag is a slightly lighter shade.
