The Chair Mat Maker is Rien Stuijts, a craftsman from Zundert who has been repairing and weaving chairs for over 25 years using materials like cane, rattan, and paper cord.
This centuries-old craft, similar to weaving, is threatened with extinction in the Netherlands (only about 10 practitioners remain), but Stuijts has recently found a successor.
He shares his knowledge through workshops and YouTube tutorials.
