Pigeon racing in The Hague

Pigeon racing is a unique, traditional hobby practiced primarily in The Hague and the surrounding area. 

Fanciers keep pigeons in special lofts and try to catch each other's birds, a game of strategy and speed. 

Around 1960, there were many enthusiastic players, but due to urbanization and other factors, their numbers have declined. 

The Pigeon Racing Association "Ons Belang" represents the interests of the community and consults with the municipality.
