Flag of Slovakia

The flag of Slovakia is a horizontal tricolor of white (top), blue, and red, featuring the national coat of arms on the hoist side.
The coat of arms depicts a red shield with a silver double cross (Patriarchal cross) atop three blue hills.
These hills represent the Tatra, Fatra, and Mátra mountain ranges.
The double cross refers to the country's Christian heritage.

The colors are the Pan-Slavic colors, symbolizing the Slavic identity and unity of the Slovak people.
The current flag was adopted on September 3, 1992, shortly before the dissolution of Czechoslovakia.
The aspect ratio is 2:3.
The coat of arms was added to avoid confusion with the flags of Russia and Slovenia.
