Flag of the United Arab Emirates

The flag of the United Arab Emirates consists of a vertical red stripe on the hoist side (left) and three horizontal stripes: green (top), white (middle), and black (bottom). 

It was officially adopted on December 2, 1971, at the founding of the UAE. 

The colors are the traditional Pan-Arab colors and symbolize, among other things, courage/sacrifice (red), fertility/hope (green), peace/purity (white), and strength or the history of the emirates (black).
