Flag of Zimbabwe

The flag of Zimbabwe consists of seven horizontal stripes of equal width: green, yellow (gold), red, black, red, yellow, and green.
On the hoist side is a white triangle (outlined in black) containing a red five-pointed star on which the golden Zimbabwe bird (a soapstone statue from the ruins of Great Zimbabwe) is depicted.
The flag was adopted on April 18, 1980, upon independence.

Meaning of the colors and symbols:
Green: agriculture and vegetation.
Yellow/gold: mineral wealth.
Red: blood shed in the liberation struggle.
Black: the black majority / heritage.
White: peace.
Red star: national aspirations.
Zimbabwe bird: national emblem and history of the country.
