Made from distilled wine (usually from white grapes).
Minimum 38% alcohol.
Must mature in oak barrels (often 6 months or longer).
Protected designation: only products that comply with German or EU regulations may be called “Weinbrand”.
Comparable to Cognac or Armagnac, but typically German in style and production.
It is a classic, smooth brandy that is drunk neat or in cocktails.
