Book of the Bible: Revelation of Jesus Christ

The Book of Revelation is the final book of the New Testament.
It was written by the apostle John (around 95 AD) during his exile on the island of Patmos.
It is an apocalyptic book full of symbolism, visions, and prophecies.

Main content: Introduction and letters (chapters 1–3).
John receives a revelation of the risen Christ.
This is followed by seven letters to the churches in Asia Minor containing praise, criticism, and promises. Heavenly visions (chapters 4–5).
John sees the throne of God in heaven and the Lamb (Jesus) worthy to open the sealed scroll.
Judgments and misery (chapters 6–18).
The opening of the seven seals, the blowing of the seven trumpets, and the pouring out of the seven bowls bring judgment upon the earth.
There is a battle between God and the forces of evil (including the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet).
Babylon (symbol of the godless world) falls.
The victory of Christ (chapters 19–20).
Jesus returns as King of Kings.
He defeats his enemies, the Millennium follows, and then the Final Judgment.
New heaven and new earth (chapters 21–22).
God creates everything new. There is no more death, sorrow, or sin.
The New Jerusalem descends, and God dwells with his people forever.

Core message: Despite all misery and persecution, Jesus Christ ultimately triumphs.
He is the Alpha and the Omega, and whoever perseveres shares in the victory and eternal life.
The book encourages Christians in difficult times and calls for faithfulness to God.
