The Giant Sequoia Trees: The park takes its name from the giant sequoia trees.
Its most famous resident is General Sherman, the largest tree in the world by volume.
It stands nearly 84 meters tall and measures over 30 meters in circumference at the base.
Situated in the southern Sierra Nevada, the park offers a spectacular landscape of deep canyons, wild rivers, vast mountain meadows, and granite monoliths.
A major highlight is Mount Whitney—the highest mountain in the contiguous United States—located on the border with the adjacent Kings Canyon National Park.
The park is popular among nature lovers and hikers.
Notable attractions include the Giant Forest (the grove containing the highest concentration of giant trees), Moro Rock (a climbable rock formation offering panoramic views), and Crystal Cave (an underground limestone cave).
Sequoia National Park is almost always mentioned in the same breath as Kings Canyon National Park, which lies directly to the north and merges seamlessly with it.
The two parks are often managed and visited as a single unit.
