Lesser Poland

Lesser Poland (Małopolska Województwo) is one of Poland's 16 provinces, located in the south of the country, bordering Slovakia. 
With an area of approximately 15,183 km², it is one of the smaller provinces. 
The capital is Kraków, a historical and cultural center. 
The region has approximately 3.4 million inhabitants (2019) and a high population density. 
Its landscape encompasses the Tatra, Pieniny, and Beskid Mountains, and the Vistula River. 
It is economically diverse, with industries such as steel, chemistry, and technology, and is a tourist attraction thanks to UNESCO sites such as Kraków's Old Town, the Wieliczka Salt Mine, and Auschwitz-Birkenau. 
It is also a center of culture and education, home to the renowned Jagiellonian University.
