Nijmegen Four Days Marches

The Nijmegen Four Days Marches, officially the International Four Days March Nijmegen, is an annual walking event in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, held since 1916.
It takes place in the third week of July and attracts tens of thousands of walkers from the Netherlands and abroad.
Participants walk 30, 40, or 50 kilometers per day for four days, depending on age and gender, through the Nijmegen region, following routes along the Waal River, through forests, and villages.
The event, known as the "Walk of the World," combines athletic challenge with a festive atmosphere, thanks in part to the accompanying Four Days Marches, one of the largest festivals in the Netherlands. Participants who successfully complete the march receive the coveted Four Days Marches Cross medal. The event emphasizes discipline, solidarity, and international solidarity, with strong military roots.
