Sverdlovsk

Sverdlovsk Oblast is a federal region in Russia, located in the Ural Mountains on the border between Europe and Asia.
The capital is Yekaterinburg, formerly known as Sverdlovsk.
With a population of approximately 4.3 million (2021) and an area of 194,226 km², it is a major industrial region, rich in minerals such as iron, copper, gold, and asbestos.
The economy relies on metallurgy, mechanical engineering, and mining.
The landscape ranges from the Ural Mountains to the West Siberian Plain, with a continental climate (cold winters, warm summers).
Historically, the region is significant due to the assassination of the Romanov family in Yekaterinburg in 1918 and the industrial development since the 18th century.
Points of interest include the Nevyansk Tower and nature parks such as Oleny Ruchi.
