The performances, which have been held consistently every five years since 1975, combine modern texts and stage direction with the Biblical story, such as the entry into Jerusalem, the Last Supper, and the crucifixion.
In 2026, in honor of 100 years of open-air theatre, the 22nd edition will present "Crucify Me," directed by Michel Sluysmans and Eva Custers with a text by Frans Pollux, in collaboration with Toneelgroep Maastricht.
