Circus Culture

Circus culture encompasses the traditions, art forms, and communities surrounding circus performances, rooted in centuries-old practices of acrobatics, clowning, juggling, and animal taming.
It combines physical skill, theater, and spectacle, often performed in a circular tent stage (the ring). Modern circuses, such as Cirque du Soleil, focus more on artistic expression and storytelling, with less emphasis on animal acts due to ethical concerns.
Circus culture flourishes worldwide, with festivals, training programs, and an inclusive community that connects both professionals and amateurs.
In the Netherlands, circus culture thrives with events such as the Dutch Circus Festival and youth circuses.
