Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump (Alberta - Canada)

In south-west Alberta, the remains of marked trails and an aboriginal camp, and a tumulus where vast quantities of buffalo (American Bison) skeletons can still be found, are evidence of a custom practised by aboriginal peoples of the North American plains for nearly 6,000 years.
Using their excellent knowledge of the topography and of buffalo behaviour, they killed their prey by chasing them over a precipice; the carcasses were later carved up in the camp below.

Beng Mealea (Cambodia)

Beng Mealea is one of the new highlights of Cambodia, a beautiful jungle temple only recently can be visited since all landmines were swept into the region in 2003.
The complex in the style of Angkor Wat is approximately one square kilometer in size and reach along four paths.
From a distance you get the impression that nothing remaining but by creeping plants overgrown ruins, but who ventures into the complex, wait a wonderful experience.
The temple is currently not crowded yet, so you still get the impression of being an explorer ... but the place is so spectacular that in the foreseeable future a lot more tourists will come.

Brasilia (Brazil)

Brasilia, a capital created ex nihilo in the centre of the country in 1956, was a landmark in the history of town planning.
Urban planner Lucio Costa and architect Oscar Niemeyer intended that every element – from the layout of the residential and administrative districts (often compared to the shape of a bird in flight) to the symmetry of the buildings themselves – should be in harmony with the city’s overall design.
The official buildings, in particular, are innovative and imaginative.

Major Town Houses of the Architect Victor Horta (Brussels - Belgium)

The four major town houses - Hôtel Tassel, Hôtel Solvay, Hôtel van Eetvelde, and Maison & Atelier Horta - located in Brussels and designed by the architect Victor Horta, one of the earliest initiators of Art Nouveau, are some of the most remarkable pioneering works of architecture of the end of the 19th century.
The stylistic revolution represented by these works is characterised by their open plan, the diffusion of light, and the brilliant joining of the curved lines of decoration with the structure of the building.

Fertö / Neusiedlersee Cultural Landscape (Austria)

The Fertö/Neusiedler Lake area has been the meeting place of different cultures for eight millennia.
This is graphically demonstrated by its varied landscape, the result of an evolutionary symbiosis between human activity and the physical environment.
The remarkable rural architecture of the villages surrounding the lake and several 18th- and 19th-century palaces adds to the area’s considerable cultural interest.
