Vila Nova de Milfontes (Portugal)

Vila Nova de Milfontes is a picturesque coastal town in Portugal’s Alentejo region, situated at the mouth of the Mira River within the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park.
The village sits atop a cliff overlooking the Mira River as it flows into the Atlantic Ocean, offering stunning vistas and calm waters along the riverbank.
There is a wide variety of beaches, ranging from sheltered river beaches—ideal for swimming and canoeing—to rugged, expansive ocean beaches that are popular with surfers.

Historic Center: The charming old town is characterized by whitewashed houses, narrow streets, and inviting squares filled with restaurants and cafés serving local fish dishes.
Fort of São Clemente: A key historical landmark in the village, this 16th-century fort was built to defend the river estuary against pirates.
The area is a paradise for nature lovers and hikers, not least because of its proximity to the renowned "Fishermen’s Trail" (Rota Vicentina) hiking route.
