Flag of Pakistan

The flag of Pakistan, also known as the *Parcham-e-Sitar-o-Hilal* (Flag of the Crescent and Star), is the country's national flag.
The flag consists of a large dark green field on the right side (three-quarters of the width) featuring a white crescent moon and a five-pointed white star in the center.
On the left side, there is a vertical white band (one-quarter of the width).

Meaning of the colors:
Green: Represents the Muslim majority of the population and the state religion (Islam).
White: Represents Pakistan's religious minorities (such as Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, and others) and symbolizes peace and harmony.
The crescent moon (*hilal*) traditionally represents progress and the Islamic world.
The star represents light and knowledge.

The design is based on the original flag of the Muslim League (All-India Muslim League), which in turn drew upon the flags of the former Delhi Sultanate and the Mughal Empire.
The current flag was officially adopted in this form on August 11, 1947, shortly before Pakistan's independence on August 14, 1947.
