Flag of Uganda

The flag of Uganda was designed in 1962, the year the country gained its independence.
The flag consists of six horizontal stripes and a central symbol set within a white circle.
The stripes repeat in three identical sets from top to bottom: black, yellow, and red.

Symbolism of the colors:
Black: Represents the Black population of Africa.
Yellow: Symbolizes the sun and African sunshine.
Red: Refers to brotherhood and the blood that binds the African people.
The crane: In the center (on the white circle) is a grey crowned crane (the national bird of Uganda).
The bird’s raised leg symbolizes the country’s movement and progress toward the future.
