Capital: Kunming (the "city of eternal spring").
Yunnan borders Tibet, Sichuan, Guizhou, Guangxi, and three countries: Myanmar, Laos, and Vietnam.
What makes Yunnan so special:
Extremely varied landscape: from snow-capped Himalayan peaks (up to 6,740 m) in the northwest.
Tropical rainforest in the south.
Enormous elevation changes → from freezing to subtropical climates in a short distance.
Culture: Yunnan has no fewer than 25 ethnic minorities (approximately a third of the population), including Yi, Bai, Dai, Naxi, Tibetans, and Hani.
Each group has its own clothing, language, festivals, and architecture.
The ancient town of Lijiang (also a UNESCO World Heritage site) with its Naxi culture is very well-known.
In short: Yunnan = natural diversity + ethnic wealth + spectacular landscapes all in one province.
Hence the nicknames: "The Kingdom of Biodiversity" and "Abroad China."
