Chongqing

Chongqing (重庆) is not a regular province, but a municipality (直辖市) directly under the central government of China—similar to Beijing, Shanghai, and Tianjin.
It is the only large inland (not landlocked) municipality.

Location: Southwest China, at the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers.
Nicknames: Mountain City, Fog City, Hotpot City, 8D Cyberpunk City (due to its extremely layered, vertical buildings on steep mountains).
Climate: Hot and extremely humid in summer, known for "hot summers" and frequent fog.
Known for: Super spicy food (especially Chongqing hotpot and spicy noodles).
Busy, futuristic skyline with quirky multi-level streets, bridges, and subways.
Historical role: World War II capital of Nationalist China (1937-1945).
Gateway to the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River.

In short: Chongqing is a huge, chaotic, mountainous, spicy, and fast-paced megacity that feels like a mix of science fiction and traditional China!
