Capital: Sisophon (also called Serei Saophoan).
Borders: Thailand (west), Oddar Meanchey (north), Siem Reap (east), and Battambang (south).
Known for: The important Poipet border crossing → the busiest land border with Thailand (heavy trade, casinos, and transit for tourists/travelers).
Historic temples from the Angkor period, especially Banteay Chhmar (beautiful bas-reliefs, less touristy than Angkor Wat).
Agricultural area (primarily rice paddies) with much countryside and quiet villages.
A mix of rustic countryside, ancient temples, and the bustling border activity of Poipet.
Less touristy than Siem Reap, but ideal for those who want to see authentic Cambodia and beautiful, less-visited ruins.
In short: an underrated province with a rich history, border dynamics, and beautiful, tranquil temples.
