Alberta

Alberta is a province in western Canada, one of the three prairie provinces.

Capital: Edmonton.
Largest city: Calgary.
Neighboring countries: British Columbia (west), Saskatchewan (east), Northwest Territories (north), Montana/USA (south).
Distinctive: Landlocked (no sea), the only other province is Saskatchewan.
Landscape: West → spectacular Rocky Mountains (Banff & Jasper National Parks, Lake Louise, Icefields Parkway).
Central/East → vast prairies, farmland, and badlands (dinosaur fossils). North → forests and lakes. Economy:
Highly dependent on oil and gas (especially the oil sands) → often the province with the highest per capita income in Canada.
Also: agriculture (beef!), tourism, and technology.
Culture & nickname: Known as a cowboy province → Calgary Stampede (largest rodeo in the world) Nickname on license plates: Wild Rose Country
Politics: Traditionally quite conservative Alberta = a combination of rugged mountain scenery, cowboy culture, vast prairies, and one of Canada's richest provinces thanks to oil.
