Flag of Nicaragua

The flag consists of three horizontal stripes of equal width: two blue stripes on the outside and a white stripe in the middle.
In the center of the white stripe is the national coat of arms of Nicaragua.
It features an equilateral triangle containing five volcanoes—representing the five Central American nations—topped by a Phrygian cap (a symbol of liberty), a rainbow, and the inscription "República de Nicaragua - América Central."

Symbolism:
The blue represents the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea that surround the country, and also symbolizes justice and loyalty.
The white stands for peace, purity, and the land itself.

History: The current flag was officially adopted on August 27, 1971, but its design is largely based on the historical flag of the Federal Republic of Central America from the 19th century.
