Swimming

Swimming is both a healthy individual sport and a popular Olympic discipline.

Competitive swimming features four official strokes: freestyle (crawl), breaststroke, backstroke, and butterfly.
In addition, there are relay events and the individual medley (which combines all four strokes).
Fitness and strength: Swimming is one of the most comprehensive sports, as it engages virtually every muscle group in the body.
Because water provides both resistance and buoyancy, it offers an intense workout for muscles and endurance while remaining very gentle on the joints.

Versatility: Beyond competitive swimming, the sport encompasses open-water swimming, diving, water polo, synchronized swimming, and lifesaving.
Accessibility: It is an inclusive sport that can be practiced at any age—whether recreationally for relaxation and fitness, or at an elite competitive level.
