Scheveningen Noorderstrand Bonfire

The Scheveningen Noorderstrand Bonfire is a centuries-old tradition in The Hague.
On New Year's Eve (December 31st), a giant wooden bonfire is lit on the Noorderstrand beach near 'De Lus'.
The event, organized by residents of Scheveningen-Dorp, attracts thousands of visitors and competes with the Duindorp bonfire on the Zuiderstrand beach for the tallest bonfire.
Since 2015, it has held the world record at 8,695 m³ and is recognized as intangible cultural heritage.
Set-up begins around December 27th with entertainment, but following incidents in 2018-2019 and 2020-2021, stricter rules are in place (max. 10x10x10 meters).
