Carillon Culture

Carillon culture is the tradition of playing a carillon, a musical instrument consisting of a series of tuned bells, usually located in a church tower.
This culture is particularly deep-rooted in the Netherlands, Belgium, and parts of France.
Carillonneurs play the bells on a keyboard using their hands and feet, often during markets, holidays, or concerts.
The culture also includes the maintenance of historical carillons and compositions for this instrument.
In 2014, Belgian carillon culture was inscribed on the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
