Alkmaar Cheese Carriers' Guild

The Alkmaar Cheese Carriers' Guild has existed since June 17, 1593, and is the oldest active cheese-carrying guild in the world.
28 men wear white suits and straw hats, divided into four vemen (red, green, blue, and yellow).
The head is the "cheese father" (orange hat + silver stick).
They carry cheeses on wooden "berries" during the traditional cheese market on Waagplein (Friday mornings, April through September).
Everything is done according to centuries-old rules: weighing, walking, stacking, and bargaining with buyers.
The motto: "A false scale is an abomination to the Lord."
The guild is a UNESCO intangible heritage site and Alkmaar's main tourist attraction.
