Patrol Vessel

A patrol vessel is a small, versatile vessel (up to approximately 200 tons displacement) deployed by navies, port authorities, or government agencies for patrol and surveillance duties.
They operate primarily in inland waters, coastal areas, and estuaries and are equipped with light armament (such as machine guns), radar, and equipment for vessel escort, inspection, and emergency response. Examples include the Balder class of the Royal Netherlands Navy and the RPAs in the Port of Rotterdam, which have an average lifespan of 25 years.
Modern versions, such as hybrid aluminum vessels, meet high class requirements and are used for maritime security and law enforcement.
