Nusa Tenggara Barat

Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) is a province in Indonesia, located in the western part of the Kepulauan Nusa Tenggara (Lesser Sunda Islands).

Main islands: Lombok (in the west, more densely populated) and Sumbawa (in the east, larger but less densely populated), plus smaller islands such as the Gili Islands, Moyo, and Sangeang.
Capital: Mataram (on Lombok).
Population and culture: The population consists mainly of the Sasak (on Lombok), and the Sumbawa and Bima/Mbojo (on Sumbawa).
Most inhabitants are Muslim, with a Hindu minority (primarily Balinese influences on Lombok).
The province is known for its rich local traditions, crafts, and culture.
Nature and tourism: NTB has a beautiful landscape with volcanoes such as Mount Rinjani (on Lombok, 3,726 m) and Mount Tambora (on Sumbawa).
There are beautiful beaches, coral reefs (e.g., Gili Islands), surf spots (Kuta Beach on Lombok, Lakey Beach on Sumbawa), and drier, savanna-like areas compared to Bali.
Tourism is an important sector, focusing on nature, diving/snorkeling, and adventure.
Economy: Agriculture (rice, coffee, corn, tobacco), livestock farming, fishing, and tourism are the main activities.
The economy is still relatively modestly developed.

In short: NTB is a tropical province just east of Bali, with impressive nature, relaxed beaches, and authentic cultures – perfect for those seeking peace and adventure away from the hustle and bustle of Bali.
