Maluku Utara

Maluku Utara (Malut) is a province in eastern Indonesia, part of the Moluccas (known as the Spice Islands).
It was separated from the province of Maluku in 1999 and consists of approximately 400 islands (of which fewer than 70 are inhabited).

The largest island is Halmahera, followed by Ternate, Tidore, Morotai, Bacan, and Obi, among others.
Capital: Officially Sofifi (on Halmahera), but the largest city and former capital is Ternate.
Known for: Historical spice trade (cloves, nutmeg), volcanoes (such as Gamalama on Ternate), beautiful beaches, coral reefs, rainforests, and WWII history (especially on Morotai).
The province lies between the Pacific Ocean, the Halmahera Sea, and the Moluccas Sea, with a tropical climate.
The economy relies on fishing, agriculture (spices, coconut, cocoa), and tourism (diving, island hopping, nature).
It is a quiet, still relatively undiscovered region with rich culture and biodiversity.

In short: a paradise for nature lovers and history fans, far away from the hustle and bustle of Bali or Java!
