Ariège

Ariège is a department in southwestern France, in the Occitanie region.
It is located in the Pyrenees, borders Andorra and Spain, and is known for its wild, unspoiled nature.

Capital: Foix (with its famous medieval castle).
Largest city: Pamiers.
Features: mountainous landscape, forests, valleys, caves (including prehistoric paintings such as Niaux and Lombrives), medieval castles, thermal baths (Ax-les-Thermes), and ample space for hiking, skiing, kayaking, and outdoor activities.
Unique: one of the most unspoiled and peaceful regions of France, with an authentic, rural atmosphere and little mass tourism.
Often referred to as "the place that time forgot" – ideal for those seeking nature, tranquility, and history.
