Rowing Vlet

A rowing vlet is a small, flat-bottomed vessel, traditionally used in harbours for mooring and unmooring ships.
Originally they were rowed, but nowadays they are often equipped with a motor.
They are characterised by a black and white chequered band, an obligation for recognisability and are often used by organisations such as the Royal Rowing Association Eendracht (KRVE) in Rotterdam since 1895.
Rowing vlets are efficient, manoeuvrable and suitable for maritime services, such as towing mooring lines.
Modern versions can be electrically powered.
