Sinkiang

Xinjiang, often referred to as Sinkiang in historical context, is an autonomous region in northwestern China. 

During the Han Dynasty, China began to expand its influence westward. 

However, it was not until around 640 that the Tang Dynasty conquered present-day Xinjiang.
