The tosti (Netherlands) or croque-monsieur (Belgium/France) is a sandwich dish that is prepared by toasting two thinly sliced bread together with the filling in between in a tosti iron (croque-monsieur machine), grill, oven, special toaster or frying pan. In order to be able to eat them out of hand, the tostis or croques are usually cut diagonally lengthwise, so that triangles are created.
