Aloha Airlines Flight 243 was operated by a Boeing 737-297 that suffered severe damage from explosive decompression on April 28, 1988, during a flight from Hilo to Honolulu, a distance of 340 km. The aircraft was able to land safely at Kahului Airport on Maui.
The only person who did not survive the accident was flight attendant Clarabelle Ho Lansing.
