Fish River (Namibia)

The Fish River is an unnavigable river in Namibia.
Its length is 650 km, making it the longest river in Namibia.
The catchment area covers an area of more than 54,000 km².
Its origin lies in the east of the Naukluft Mountains from where it is 150 km to the Hardap Dam near Mariental.
There the water flow is completely blocked, the water that goes further downstream comes from tributaries below the dam.
A second dam, the Neckartal dam 40 km west of Keetmanshoop, was built between 2014 and 2018.
