Pará

Pará is the second-largest state in Brazil (area ≈ 1.25 million km², after Amazonas).
It is located in the north, in the heart of the Amazon region, and is bisected by the lower Amazon River.

Capital: Belém (at the mouth of the Amazon).
Climate: Tropical rainforest, hot and humid (average 26°C, high rainfall).
Economy: Strongly based on mining (Brazil's largest producer of iron ore and bauxite/aluminum), timber, agriculture (acai, pineapple, castanha-do-pará, pepper, cocoa), and energy (hydroelectric power plants). Known for: Amazon rainforest, Marajó Island, traditional dishes (tacacá, pato no tucupi, açaí), the Círio de Nazaré festival in Belém, and a rich indigenous and caboclo culture.

In short: an immense, green Amazon state with enormous natural resources, but also challenges related to deforestation and development.
