City of Luxembourg: its Old Quarters and Fortifications - Luxembourg

Because of its strategic position, Luxembourg was, from the 16th century until 1867, when its walls were dismantled, one of Europe's greatest fortified sites. 
It was repeatedly reinforced as it passed from one great European power to another: the Holy Roman Emperors, the House of Burgundy, the Habsburgs, the French and Spanish kings, and finally the Prussians. Until their partial demolition, the fortifications were a fine example of military architecture spanning several centuries.

Keflavik - Iceland

Keflavík is a town in Iceland on the Reykjanes Peninsula, about 50 km SW of the capital Reykjavik. 
South of the city is the smaller town of Njarðvík, and adjacent to Keflavík airport is the Vallarheiði district with 539 inhabitants.

Church of the Ascension, Kolomenskoye - Russia

The Church of the Ascension was built in 1532 on the imperial estate of Kolomenskoye, near Moscow, to celebrate the birth of the prince who was to become Tsar Ivan IV ('the Terrible'). 
One of the earliest examples of a traditional wooden tent-roofed church on a stone and brick substructure, it had a great influence on the development of Russian ecclesiastical architecture.

Sauerkraut

Sauerkraut is sliced white cabbage, which has been preserved by the action of various lactic acid bacteria. 
Sauerkraut tastes sour because of this. 
In Flanders a lot is said choucroute, after the French corruption of the original Middle High German sūrkrūt. 
The modern German form is Sauerkraut.

Canaima National Park - Venezuela

Canaima National Park is spread over 3 million ha in south-eastern Venezuela along the border between Guyana and Brazil. Roughly 65% of the park is covered by table mountain (tepui) formations. 
The tepuis constitute a unique biogeological entity and are of great geological interest. 
The sheer cliffs and waterfalls, including the world's highest (1,000 m), form a spectacular landscape.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - Uganda

Located in south-western Uganda, at the junction of the plain and mountain forests, Bwindi Park covers 32,000 ha and is known for its exceptional biodiversity, with more than 160 species of trees and over 100 species of ferns. 
Many types of birds and butterflies can also be found there, as well as many endangered species, including the mountain gorilla.
