Historic Centres of Stralsund and Wismar (Germany)

The medieval towns of Wismar and Stralsund, on the Baltic coast of northern Germany, were major trading centres of the Hanseatic League in the 14th and 15th centuries.
In the 17th and 18th centuries they became Swedish administrative and defensive centres for the German territories.
They contributed to the development of the characteristic building types and techniques of Brick Gothic in the Baltic region, as exemplified in several important brick cathedrals, the Town Hall of Stralsund, and the series of houses for residential, commercial and crafts use, representing its evolution over several centuries.

Red currant or currant

The currant or trout berry (Ribes rubrum) is a berry, originally from a part in western Europe: Belgium, Germany, France, the Netherlands, northern Italy and northern Spain.
It is a deciduous shrub, normally 1 to 1.5 meters high, sometimes 2 m, with a handlobbig leaf with five lobes.
The flowers are unremarkable yellow-green and the edible berries are often bright red, sometimes white or pink.
The berries (diameter about 8-12 mm) hang in bunches with 3 to 10 berries at the same time, the length of such a bunch is 4 to 8 cm. A planted bush can yield 3 to 4 kilos of berries, around the middle or end of the summer.

Three Parallel Rivers of Yunnan Protected Areas (China)

Consisting of eight geographical clusters of protected areas within the boundaries of the Three Parallel Rivers National Park, in the mountainous north-west of Yunnan Province, the 1.7 million hectare site features sections of the upper reaches of three of the great rivers of Asia: the Yangtze (Jinsha), Mekong and Salween run roughly parallel, north to south, through steep gorges which, in places, are 3,000 m deep and are bordered by glaciated peaks more than 6,000 m high.
The site is an epicentre of Chinese biodiversity.
It is also one of the richest temperate regions of the world in terms of biodiversity.

Pyrénées - Mont Perdu (Spain)

This outstanding mountain landscape, which spans the contemporary national borders of France and Spain, is centred around the peak of Mount Perdu, a calcareous massif that rises to 3,352 m.
The site, with a total area of 30,639 ha, includes two of Europe's largest and deepest canyons on the Spanish side and three major cirque walls on the more abrupt northern slopes with France, classic presentations of these geological landforms.
The site is also a pastoral landscape reflecting an agricultural way of life that was once widespread in the upland regions of Europe but now survives only in this part of the Pyrénées.
Thus it provides exceptional insights into past European society through its landscape of villages, farms, fields, upland pastures and mountain roads.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (India)

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, formerly known as Victoria Terminus Station, in Mumbai, is an outstanding example of Victorian Gothic Revival architecture in India, blended with themes deriving from Indian traditional architecture.
The building, designed by the British architect F. W. Stevens, became the symbol of Bombay as the ‘Gothic City’ and the major international mercantile port of India.
The terminal was built over 10 years, starting in 1878, according to a High Victorian Gothic design based on late medieval Italian models.
Its remarkable stone dome, turrets, pointed arches and eccentric ground plan are close to traditional Indian palace architecture.
It is an outstanding example of the meeting of two cultures, as British architects worked with Indian craftsmen to include Indian architectural tradition and idioms thus forging a new style unique to Bombay.
