Air France Flight 447

Air France Flight 447 departed Brazil's Galeão Airport from Rio de Janeiro to Paris at 22:03 UTC on May 31, 2009 at 22:03 UTC. 
The aircraft left the radar tracking area at 01:33 UTC on June 1. 
With the exception of an automatic message exchange, nothing more was heard from the device. 
It eventually turned out that the device ended up in the Atlantic Ocean at 02:14 UTC. 

With 228 victims, the plane crash is the deadliest in Air France's history. 
By the end of June 2009, 51 bodies had been recovered.
In April 2011, wreckage was found in the ocean, from which an additional 103 bodies were recovered. 
The black boxes were also found in early May.
