Castelgrande Bellinzona

The three castles, city wall and inner city of Bellinzona together form one of the eleven Swiss World Heritage Sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Bellinzona is located in the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino.
The World Heritage of Bellinzona consists of a number of fortifications around the castle of Castelgrande, which stands on a rock and overlooks the whole valley of the river Ticino.
Built in the 10th century, Castelgrande is the largest of the three castles.
There are two striking towers in the castle, the white and the black tower.
Fortified walls run from the castle to protect the inner city.
