Sour mat

A sour mat is a candy cane, which is often red, green, yellow, orange, brown, blue or rainbow color. 

The candy has a sour taste, combined with the color-dependent taste (strawberry, apple, cola or grapefruit, etc.) and often has the shape of a rectangular long mat. 

Some sour mats are sweet in taste. 

A common ingredient to give the mats a sour taste is malic acid.
