Alta is a municipality in the Norwegian province of Troms og Finnmark.
Alta has been nicknamed "Nordlysbyen Alta" or "Northern Lights City Alta" due to the fact that the chances of seeing Aurora Borealis - the Northern Lights - are relatively high.
