Krems an der Donau is an independent city in the Austrian state of Lower Austria.
The city has about 24,000 inhabitants, is more than 1000 years old and still has a medieval core.
Together with the Wachau area, it has been included on the UNESCO World Heritage List as a cultural-historical monument.
