The name literally means “rag doll”: many specimens hang relaxed and limp in your arms when you lift them.
It is one of the largest domestic cat breeds.
Male cats usually weigh 5–9 kg, females 4–6 kg.
They have a medium-length, silky coat with colourpoint markings (lighter body, darker face, ears, paws, and tail), often with white.
The eyes are always deep blue.
Ragdolls are gentle, affectionate, and strongly people-oriented.
They often follow their owners around the house, love to cuddle, and get along well with children and other pets.
They are not particularly active.
Life expectancy: approximately 12–17 years.
In short: a large, calm “dog-like” cat with a luxurious appearance and a very gentle character.
